American Head Charge- Shoot EP (2013 American Head Charge)

In 2001 American Head Charge burst onto the scene with their aggressive album "The War of Art". There were high expectations for AHC, and 2005 saw the release of the second album "The Feeding". AHC were ready to go when suddenly tragedy struck with the passing of guitarist  Bryan Ottoson  while on tour. Two years later the "Can't Stop the Machine " dvd was released. Then the machine did in fact stop. Nothing to be heard of AHC, until a quiet 2011 tour. Well good news people it's 2013 and AHC is back.

The "Shoot" EP  is a return to form, but in a controlled frenzy type of way. There are very cool Faith No More , Mike Patton esque verses leading up to the chaos. AHC have grown and become better musicians as the years have gone by. A more refined low tuned sound, chunky fat guitar tone is heard throughout the album. It makes AHC sound so much heavier. The drums and bass are tighter than ever , locking  down that low end. The samples are here just as you would expect. The sound has progressed to a more polished AHC. The vocals spilled out by Cameron have matured since the debut album way back when. The controlled agony and despair and down right pissed off delivery shows that the attitude is there.

The tracks that really stand out to me on the EP are "Sand" as it feels like a gritty, dull bone saw is cutting through your flesh. The other track that will have you thrashing around  is a cover of Patti Smith's "Rock N Roll Nigger" I give this EP an 8 out of 10, and the only thing I didn't like was that it was only five songs and left me wanting more AHC. That's ok though, feel free to give multiple listens.

Tracklist:
1- Writhe
2- Set Yourself On Fire
3- Sugars of Someday
4- Sand
5- Rock N Roll Nigger
